Oh, man! The shoes are awesome! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen hand drawn shoes reminiscent of the shoes on the dwarves from “Snow White” in a modern day movie project.

  2. Philip Doctor says:

Oh man, this is almost like a 1980s movie you directed! THIS IS GREAT!!!!!! 😀

  3. Marin Kalebota says:

    Wonderful, absolutely wonderful!
    Magnificent colors.
    Looking good.

  4. Brian says:

Such a NEAT update! The amount of colors for Grum’s color scheme is surprising! But it’s really cool seeing it laid out next to the colored pic of him like that!

Looking good guys! Thanks for sharing the awesome update! ^__^

    Lookin’ good!

  6. Mark Canner says:

Cool, I’m really liking the look of Grum. 😀

Exciting times. Grum reminds of Creeper from Disney’s The Black Cauldron, or Toad from Disney’s Gummi Bears, and even a bit of Morph from Disney’s Treasure planet. Love his look, but please…please…please…do all you can to keep him from being annoying, taking up too much time, or being a punching bag for the villain when he is frustrated. And don’t make him the solution to the plot either. I point to Gurgi from the Black Cauldron. His sacrifice was so forced.

Please be so careful with this character. We’ve all waited decades to see the characters in Dragon’s Lair come to life–Dirk, Daphne, and the Dragon’s Lair villains and creatures we know and love. We want to learn about their lives. Don’t ruin the experience with a comedy relief character who isn’t from the original games you currently think we will all want to see and enjoy. Jar Jar Binks anyone? Grum is interesting/cute looking and all, but so far he is a gamble. Dragon’s Lair? Oh, I love those games, played them for years! Excuse me, Grum who?

    Be careful

    • Philip Doctor says:

Well, if you thought that they would ruin the movie with an annoying character, you’re in luck. Lavalle told me that there are no annoying characters in the film.

      • Knites says:

Good to hear! But, There is nothing wrong with suggesting caution. A blog entry showing a character that was never in the games should raise an eyebrow or two to anyone who has watched his share of video game movies.. Why not give the Grum role to a young lizard king or a giddy goon and tie the character closer to the game–flesh them out? I understand this is a short film and the cast will have to be expanded, but a non-game character getting so much attention so soon? Makes my spider-sense tingle.

Grum looks amazing! Love it. Regarding perks: I just received my Castle Pan in the mail. It is absolutely breathtaking. Thank you so much. I have to ask, I received all my stand alone perks (Castle Pan, Space Ace poster, Dirk sketch, etc) but I’ve yet to receive any of the campaign perks like T-shirt, hat, pins, lanyard, postcard, etc). Is there a reason all my campaign perks have yet to arrive? I thought I would get all this before the Castle Pan since that was a later offered perk. Let me know if I’m missing something. Thanks again for sharing the beautiful art work ahead of time. Very exciting.

    • You must of chosen one of the higher perks, we send out the Stand-Alone perks by themselves. The perks that have previous perks we send out in one full bundle. We can do about 1-2 perks a week because of the heavy volume.

      • Julio Cabral says:

Makes total sense. I do have one of the higher perks so I’ll wait patiently for my bundle. Thanks so much for the reply. I’m super excited for all of it. All the best to Don, Gary and the team.

  9. David Davenport says:

When can I expect to receive the “Animation Collector” perk and the previous perks such as clothing?

    • Hello David, we have to make sure we don’t need the drawings for the presentation before we send them out. We have had to go back and make changes a few times, adding or subtracting from the animated shots. We plan to send out the “Animation Collector” perk with all the previous perks as soon as we finish. Sorry for the Delay. Best, Don & Gary

You might want to check my membership. I got more than a few alerts about membership. If it ads a year for each there might be a surprising amount of time there.

Looking forward to the Dragon / Slayer perk when it goes out. But I am curious about something. I didn’t go for the bundle because that Perk already included the Dragon’s Lair game. Will those copies also be signed? It didn’t say it would in the Gamer or later perks to include it.

    • Yes the Blu-ray Bundle is signed. The original “Gamer” perk is not signed. We are still working on extending memberships for everyone, thanks for your patience Daniel!

      • Spokavriel (Daniel T. Stack) says:

At least getting the gamer perk and upgrading is saved a tiny bit of writing time 😉 I only have 3 Perks left to go for. Before going for other drawings in repeats. Really hope the Pitch presentation gets this a full green light.

  11. Micah Brown says:

    Looking great.

  12. Jon Turner says:

Looks quite nice. I wouldn’t mind eventually seeing Dirk and Daphne don their classic attire either at some point.

  13. Jim says:

    This looks absolutely awesome!

  14. Kimberly says:

I love seeing the single frame shots and I hope you will post more of them! <3

  15. Al Eufrasio says:

Looking great, guys! I especially like looking at the rough background drawing. I hope in the long run you post some rough animation/pencil tests, where we can get the purest look at the animator’s intent.

  16. Tom Villegas says:

Thank for the update & for letting me know that you’re working on the Blu-ray Bundle rewards.

  17. Brent Kerr says:

Following the complete adventure of this project has been such a privilege and an honour and I thank you guys for letting us all participate in it the way you have.

  18. Austin Hatt says:

Nice to see how this is coming along. It’s interesting to see how the process is done.

  19. OwenWelsh says:

Will you guys be releasing a version of the pitch presentation in pencil test or clean-up lines only? It would be fun to study the animation.

  20. Spokavriel (Daniel T. Stack) says:

I was looking at Grum again, how much would his pallet change in daylight? And would the needed shadows in that situation need still another color set?

  21. William says:

I’m curious what this new update is about, but for some reason it says that my membership expired even though I got an email two days ago saying that it got activated again?

  22. Peter Kadlec says:

So the BluRay perk (means all 3 BluRays) are already signed? When will you start shipping them?

  23. Frank Sudol says:

Hi Don and Gary. Grum looks like a comical side kick to the great villain, Mordroc from Dragon’s Lair 2. Glad to see things progressing with the preview pitch of the movie that will be shown to potential distributors to help make the full movie if all goes to plan. Can’t wait to see the work you and your team have put into the new Dragon’s Lair story! Hopefully in 2017 we’ll see it.

  24. Randy says:

Greetings Don & Gary! I’m quite late in reporting this, but I love the merchandise i received. The shirt is great to wear during Dungeons and Dragons game nights! I’ve been telling everyone I know about your project. Keep up the great work, and thanks for the updates.

  25. Peter Kadlec says:

You stated that the BluRay bundle is already signed. But I havent received any message from you yet that it was sent to me. This is a birthday present. And theres already a 4 month delay. But thats no further problem, cause im used to longer delays with crowdfunding. But if they are already signed, please ship them.

  26. Martin Touhey says:

This looks absolutely great. Is there an estimated finish date for the pitch presentation video?

  27. Tom Villegas says:

Thank you very much to all involved! I received my BLU-Ray set in the mail yesterday. They look so much better than the 30th Anniversary DVD set. Thank you all again.
